A video look at the running back position for the University of Louisville football team this

Cardinal Authority is running a position series as a preseason football feature to help you get familiar with the entire University of Louisville roster. Along with a breakdown of the position and a feature story each day we will do a video preview. Here's a look at today's video preview of the Louisville running back position.

Louisville Cardinals running back coach Kolby Smith is excited about the depth and quality of his group this season.

Smith returns his entire back field and adds a couple of nice pieces to the mix for the new campaign. He said the Cardinals are likely to continue to motto of "Feed The Stud" and that would mean keep giving the ball to the hot hand.

"I really like the depth we have built," Smith said. "(The top five) all know the offense and have been in it for more than a year, so we can trust them to go out there and know what they are doing. And they all bring something different and that's what makes us who we are.

"I'm excited to see each and every one of them play this year."

Senior Brandon Radcliff was the leading running back rusher last season, while L.J. Scott and Jeremy Smith are back and had big fall camps. Malin Jones and Trey Smith are fighting for snaps.

Junior college transfer Malik Williams has a shot to play, while freshman Dae Williams is likely to redshirt.
