Rome, Ga., High School linebacker Jaylen Griffin said he's excited about his commitment to Virginia Tech.
But Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has been working on the three-star prospect and had him on campus Saturday for the Cardinals 63-20 blowout win over No. 2 Florida State.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Griffin said the game gave him "something to think about" before signing day.
"He's been trying to get me to 'Think Cards'," Griffin said of Grantham. "I was there and it was a crazy, packed environment and all. They have a really good team this year. They're a lot of fun to watch."
Griffin said he "didn't know right now," about his future. A former commitment to California, Griffin said Virginia Tech and Louisville "as of right now" are the only two schools involved in his recruitment.
The No. 20 inside linebacker prospect in the South, Griffin had 32 scholarship offers before making his commitment to the Hokies. He had Virginia Tech and Louisville on his final list along with Colorado State, Boston College and East Carolina.
Scout.com national analyst Chad Simmons had this to say about Griffin:
"He's always gonna play hard, has a good motor, just that consistent work ethic, mindset, self-motivated, self-driven. A lot to like there even before he steps on the football field."
