4-star 2018 cornerback Jairus Brents of Waggener High School said Louisville is 'definitely impressing' him in the recruiting process

Waggener High School four-star 2018 prospect Jairus Brents was at the Louisville game on Saturday when the Cardinals blew out then No. 2 Florida State. Brents said Louisville has been "Impressing" him during the recruiting process.

Waggener High School 2018 standout Jairus Brents had been to a few University of Louisville football games prior to Saturday's contest against Florida State in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

But the 63-20 win over the Cardinals is one Brents will remembers.

"They put on a show," Brents said. "Louisville proved its one of the best teams in the country. Coach (Bobby) Petrino had his team ready and they played with a lot of energy. I feel like Louisville is one of the best team's in the country."

And Louisville is one of the top teams recruiting Brents.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Brents is ranked as the No. 150 player in the nation in the '18 class, checking in as the No. 2 cornerback in the Midwest and the top player in the '18 class in the Bluegrass State.

Brents has offers from U of L, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Duke, Boston College and Western Kentucky. He has interest from other powers like USC, Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State. He started getting all the attention when he ran 4.4 in the 40 at some camps.

While he said the recruiting process is still wide open, Brents said Louisville is starting to stand out.

"Louisville is definitely impressing me," he said. "It would be great to play for my city and have a chance to win a championship."

In four games for Waggener, Brents has nine catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns, has three return touchdowns on special teams and leads the Wildcats with 31 tackles on defense.
