University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz and his staff did it again.
The Cardinals have landed yet another top five prospect - plucking a commitment from Gary, Ind., West Side point guard Dana Evans. She made her commitment tonight and picked the Cardinals over Tennessee and Purdue.
The 5-foot-7 Evans is rated the nation’s top point guard - and the No. 3 player overall - by Prospectsnation.com and she is ranked No. 7 overall and the second-ranked point guard by ESPN.com.
As a junior, Evans averaged 35.8 points a game and played on USA Basketball's gold medal U18 National team this summer. She made an official visit to Louisville earlier this month.
Evans is the third commitment in the class for the Cardinals in the '17 class, joining California center Loretta Kakala and Bullitt East guard Lindsey Duval. The Cardinals have one more scholarship left in the class.
The Cardinals have now landed 18 commitments in the '14, '15, '16 and '17 classes with 17 of the 18 being ranked in the top 60 of at least one service, 13 of those in the top 30 and nine in the top 20.
