After a weekend of solid play at the John Lucas Midwest Invitational, Orlando, Fla., Olympia High School 2018 guard Ronaldo Segu made an unofficial visit on Monday to the University of Louisville.
The 6-foot Segu stayed in town after the camp and took in a U of L practice, while also touring the facilities on campus.
A point guard from the Showtime Hoops AAU club, Segu said he was "really impressed" by what he saw at U of L. He has been recruited by U of L assistant coach Mike Balado for several months.
"It was a lot better than I even expected," Segu said. "I liked the coaches and the players, they have great facilities and a really nice campus. It surprised me a little bit, just how much they had to offer at Louisville.
"They told me they like my game and want me to keep working hard and they'll be in touch."
Segu said he has "never seen" a practice like he watched at U of L with Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino showing him a lot of intensity.
"They go hard all the time, it's intense," Segu said. "It was a lot of fun to watch. Of all the practices I have been too, it was the most intense that I have seen. It was a lot of fun to watch."
While he has only chatted with Pitino during his visit, Segu said he expects now to hear more from the Hall of Fame coach. He said Balado was down recently to watch him and saw him several times during the AAU season.
"Louisville's style fits my game," Segu said. "It was really exciting to talk to (Pitino). He's a Hall of Fame coach, it was great just to talk with him and pick his brain."
Segu has offers from Florida State and Central Florida, while also hearing from Florida, USC and others.
