University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson started his game night with a smile and a touching moment.

Jackson made Ballard High School junior and cancer patient Amzie Smith smile as he headed to Card March. Jackson, who will lead the Cardinals against Duke at 7 o'clock, met and gave Smith an autographed football.

It was her wish to meet Jackson.

And Jackson did it with a smile and a huge hug.

"It was incredible that such a role model of mine and the city's took the time to meet me and set this up," Smith told Cardinal Authority. "He gave me a football that said keep fighting and stay strong. He said that the team will be fighting right there with me.

"It was awesome. And just getting to walk behind him and see the way he gets the fans excited. It meant the world to me."

Jackson is the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy after 28 touchdowns in the first five games of the season.
