Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham talks about last week's win and the future of the Louisville defense this season

University of Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham talks about last week's win over Duke and the future of the Louisville defense this season. The Cardinals play host to North Carolina State on Saturday at noon.

The University of Louisville defense has been solid this season, ranking among the top 20 defenses in the country again.

U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said he's been very pleased with the effort so far by the Cardinals, including last week in a 24-14 win over Duke on Friday night at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

"If we give up 239 and 14 points the rest of the year then I'll be happy," Grantham said, noting the numbers his defense gave up to the Blue Devils. "We did a really good job at stopping the run on first down. If you go back and look, they were behind the sticks a lot.

"So I mean if we are holding people to numbers like that and we work to get off the field on a couple more third downs, we'll be fine."

Grantham spoke with the media on Wednesday night along with defensive end James Hearns and defensive back Jaire Alexander. The Cardinals will host N.C. State on Saturday at noon in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
