Louisville checks in at No. 13 in the men's basketball Associated Press preseason poll released on Monday

The University of Louisville men's basketball program has been ranked No. 13 in the preseason Associated Press poll released on Monday. There are five ACC teams in the top 25, including No. 1 Duke.

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino has said over and over during the preseason that he's excited about the potential of the Cardinals' roster this season.

And it seems like the national media is in line with Pitino.

The Cardinals have been tabbed as the No. 13 team in the Associated Press preseason poll that was released on Monday afternoon. U of L finished 23-8 last season and didn't play in the NCAA Tournament because of the self-imposed ban.

"I really like this group," Pitino said last week at ACC Media Day. "They're working hard and they're good guys. They want to get better. Every single day they're just a pleasure to be around."

Louisville is one of five ACC teams in the top 25, including No. 1 Duke.

The Cardinals start the season with an exhibition game on Thursday nigh at 7 o'clock against Kentucky Wesleyan in the KFC Yum Center. The regular-season opener is slated for Nov. 11 against Evansville.
