The University of Louisville football program will get an official visit this weekend from one of the top junior college prospects in the nation - East Mississippi Community College defensive end Chauncey Rivers.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Rivers is a former 4-star standout from Stone Mountain, Ga., Stephenson High School and he signed and played one season at Georgia before being dismissed for off-the-field issues.
Rivers played one season at East Mississippi and helped the Lions to an 11-1 record. East Mississippi won the Mississippi Bowl recently and finished No. 2 in the final junior college national rankings.
In 12 games, Rivers has recorded 45 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss and eight sacks to go with a forced fumble and three pass breakups. For his efforts, Rivers was named to the NJCAA All-Region team.
Rivers has already visited Mississippi State and this week was offered by Alabama. He has been recruited by U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and is expected to graduate in December.
A decision is likely to come just before Dec. 14 when the signing period opens.
