Cole Bentley honored for his play
Belfry High School four-star offensive guard Cole Bentley has been honored on two All-State teams.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Bentley, who will enroll at the University of Louisville next month, helped Belfry to a fourth consecutive Class 2-A state title earlier this month.
Bentley has been named first-team All-State by The Courier-Journal newspaper and was named to the 25-man Class of the Commonwealth team by the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper.
Belfry rushed for 5,207 yards this season.
U of L commits in All-American bowl
Bentley will be joined by several other U of L commitments in the Offense-Defense All-American Game to be held Dec. 31 in Atlanta.
The other commitments include, Montgomery, Ala., Park Crossing quarterback Malik Cunningham, Conyers, Ga., wide receiver Justin Marshall, Nashville, Tenn., defensive tackle Ben Hutch, Cincinnati LaSalle athlete TreSean Smith and Nashville, Tenn., Esnworth safety Rodney Owens.
The players will head to Atlanta the day after Christmas for the All-American Bowl Week Festivities.
U of L DE headed to All-Star game
Louisville defensive end commitment Malik Clark from Baldwin High School in Atlanta has also been selected to an All-Star game.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Clark was selected to participate in the Georgia Athletic Coaches' Association North/South Football Classic. The game will be played on Dec. 30 in Columbus, Ga.
Clark finished his senior season with 41 tackles, six assists, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, and four quarterback hurries.
