Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth safety Rodney Owens has generated some chatter from other schools since he's been committed to the University of Louisville since last summer.
But after his official visit this weekend, Owens had good news for Bobby Petrino and his staff.
"I am 100 percent," Owens said. "This is going to be my only official."
The 6-foot, 185-pound Owens said he really felt comfortable with the coaching staff and current players on his visit. He played both ways at Ensworth but is expected to be a safety at U of L.
Owens will sign on Feb. 1 and arrive on campus on May 30.
"I loved it and had a great time," Owens said. "I had a great time with the players and the coaches and my family had a great time too.
"It all went great. It was pretty cool to see where they see me and was nice to get the next step."
Owens said he spent a lot of time with new defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon and defensive backs coach Lorenzo Ward. Both were recently hired after Todd Grantham and Keith Heyward left for other jobs.
"That was pretty nice to meet those guys and they see like they are really good coaches," Owens said. "When I first met (Ward), we just kind of jelled. You could tell he was a great guy with the players and we just kind of hit it off.
"He seems like a god guy and was a lot of fun to talk too."
While there were nine other current commitments on campus, Owens said the staff paid close attention to everyone. He said the commits continue to bond together, which was started several months ago via social media.
"Good to come up and hang out with some of the other guys," Owens said. "It's going to be a great class."
