The University of Louisville has added another local walk-on prospect to the roster.
Trinity High School linebacker Max Martin announced on Thursday afternoon that he would accept a preferred walk-on spot with the Cardinals. His brother, Max, was a freshman walk-on offensive lineman last season for the Cardinals.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Martin was second on the Trinity defense in tackles with 43. He finished with 12.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks and helped the Shamrocks to a 15-0 record and Class 6-A state title.
Martin had 19 tackles, including four tackles for a loss, in the Shamrocks' playoff run. He had 10 tackles in the 6-A final win over Lafayette.
Martin's father, Steve, was an All-State defensive lineman for Trinity in the late 1980s and played at Ball State. His mother, Jenny, is a member of the Nord family - which has so many connections to the U of L program.
