Louisville 2018 commitment Anfernee Simons had a 'great trip' to campus for his official visit; back and won a huge game on Monday

University of Louisville 2018 basketball commitment Anfernee Simons had a 'great trip' to campus for his official visit over the weekend. He returned home to Orlando, Fla., on Monday and had a huge game in an Edgewater victory.

Anfernee Simons started the day on Monday in Louisville finishing up his official visit and ended the day back in Florida, scoring 28 points and pulling down 16 rebounds in Edgewater's upset of Class 9-A No. 1 Oakridge.

Simons, a Class of 2018 prospect committed to the University of Louisville, called the weekend a "great time." He started the weekend by scoring 35 points in a win on Friday night before traveling to Louisville with his family.

The 6-foot-4 Simons said he wanted to "get to a game this year," so he opted to make his official visit.

"It was a lot of fun," Simons said. "It was great just to be able to watch the game and to see them in the shoot-around. It was nice for me to be around them for a game day to see how they do it.

"I really enjoyed being around the players and the coaches. I really enjoyed the trip a lot."

Simons, who was on the trip with his mother and father, watched the win over N.C. State on Sunday and spent Sunday night at dinner with U of L coach Rick Pitino and several members of the staff.

"He has been telling me the same thing," Simons said. "He talked about who is going to be playing with me and what opportunities are going to be there for me when I get to Louisville."

Simons, who has been on campus before, said it was his first visit since he committed to the Cardinals.

"I did feel more comfortable with all the guys than I did before," Simons said. "I felt like i was part of the family. I watch them now and know the plays and see maybe where I would fit in and stuff like that.

"It's just a lot of fun to watch them play. They are playing so much better now. Donovan (Mitchell) is playing well right now. They're a lot of fun to watch play."

Simons has two more regular-season games with Edgewater and then the Class 7-A playoffs begin next week.
