BIO: Ronald Rudd was the No. 48 JUCO player in the country at Chaffey College. He's from Fontana, Calif., and played his high school ball at A.B. Miller High School. Rudd has already signed but won't enroll until May.
LEAD RECRUITER: Chris Klenakis.
RECRUITMENT: A one-time UCLA commitment, Rudd committed to the Cardinals after also considering offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas State, Washington State and others. He had a total of 18 offers.
WHY U OF L: Rudd said the Cardinals were the best fit because of the offensive scheme and he said the staff told him there was plenty of playing time up for grabs next season on the line.
EXPECTED MAJOR: Business
EVALUATION: The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Rudd is a big, physical tackle who has three years to play two and has good footwork with his JUCO coach saying he's just as good pass blocking as he is run blocking.
QUOTABLE: "They expect me to come in ready - physically and mentally - to go from day one," he said. "Since I'm coming in as a junior they expect some leadership for the underclassmen."
BOTTOM LINE: It would have been nice to get him in for the current semester and spring ball, but still Rudd is more experienced than the high school guys and when he gets here in May should be able to compete for playing time right away.
