With national signing day less than 24 hours, CardinalAuthority.com provides our projections as to how we believe the University of Louisville will round out its current class of football recruits.
The Cardinals currently have 22 verbal commitments in the Class of 2017 and we expect the class will likely be either 23 or 24 when the schools makes an official announcement tomorrow.
So, here's the way we see it breaking down as of now:
Class of 2017 Mock Class
In: Malik Cunningham
Note: Cunningham shut down his recruitment two weeks ago.
In: Colin Wilson
Out: A.J. Davis, Damon Williams
Note: Wilson is expected to be the only running back.
In: Josh Johnson, Justin Marshall, Corey Reed
Out: Jeff Thomas
Note: Thomas will make his decision tomorrow but he didn't visit and won't be part of the class.
In: Kemari Averett
Out: Ben Moos
Note: Averett is solid after visiting Auburn last week.
In: Toryque Bateman, Mekhi Becton, Cole Bentley, Caleb Chandler, Ronald Rudd,
Note: With Bateman official, the only one the Cardinals are waiting on is Becton. We get the feeling it will be an entire new line - five guys in the class - for the Cardinals.
In: Mitch Hall
Note: Hall is the Cardinals' long snapper of the future; no other special teams prospects.
In: Aaron Odom
Out: Elijah Conliffe, Demetrice Lofton, Ben Hutch, Larrell Murchison, Tyrone Truesdell
Note: It's a tough spot for the Cardinals losing Hutch at a late point in the process; we expect a class of 23 and the extra scholarship could be used for a late signee at this position.
In: Malik Clark, Dorian Etheridge, Kam Jones
Out: Nick Smith, Guy Thomas
Note: Three guys in the fold - Jones has already enrolled - and that's all they need
In: Russ Yeast, Kaheem Roach,
Out: Eric Stokes
Note: We still think Yeast stick with the Cardinals
In: C.J. Avery, Anthony Johnson, Rodney Owens, TreSean Smith, Lyn Strange
Out: Brian Edwards
Note: A major position of need for the Cardinals; we think right now Edwards stays in the Sunshine State.
