University of Louisville Class of 2017 Football Class: Signed TE Kemari Averett

University of Louisville Class of 2017 Football Class: Signed TE Kemari Averett. Cardinal Authority takes a closer look at the Cardinals signee.

BIO: The three-star had a monster senior season with 58 catches for 796 yards - 13.7 yards a catch - and 11 touchdowns from the tight end position. He 22 catches for 395 yards and five TDs as a junior. Grady was named All-Area tight end for the Metro Atlanta area.

LEAD RECRUITER: Lonnie Galloway

RECRUITMENT: Averett was one of the earliest commitments to the Cardinals back in June, picking U of L over Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Auburn came on late and he visited there last weekend but stuck with the Cardinals.

WHY U OF L: Galloway targeted Averett as one of his top guys early in the recruiting process and mix that with the way Bobby Petrino uses the tight end and Averett was sold on the Cardinals.

EXPECTED MAJOR: Sports broadcasting

EVALUATION: Averett is a true pass-catching tight end; a big kid with above average speed for his size and great hands. He could become a monster in the Petrino-offense.

QUOTABLE: "I just felt comfortable with the staff and I loved the campus," Averett said. "I felt a bond with the guys there and can't wait."

BOTTOM LINE: Despite a late charge by Auburn, Averett stuck to his commitment with the Cardinals and could end up being one of the stars of this class because of the way Bobby Petrino likes to use the tight end.
