BIO: An Under Armour All-American, Russ Yeast was named the Indy Player of the Year and was named a first-team All-State selection and the Indiana Player of the Year by USA Today Sports. He was also selected Gatorade Player of the Year for Indiana and was tabbed Johnson County Offensive Player of the Year in his only season at Center Grove. He finished with 2,561 all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns. He was named Mr. Football runner-up for the state of Indiana.

LEAD RECRUITER: Chris Klenakis/Staff

RECRUITMENT: A former Kentucky commitment, Yeast picked the Cardinals over more than two dozen offers, including Notre Dame, UK, Auburn, Illinois, Indiana, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma and Washington State. He made a late visit to Notre Dame and kept the U of L staff working until signing day.

WHY U OF L: Yeast said he's caught a lot of grief since his father was a star at Kentucky, but he wanted to stay close to home and really liked the Louisville staff and the chance to play early on.

EVALUATION: Good all around athlete. Polished as a route-runner on the offensive side of the ball, but has also been asked to play some quarterback and has shown elusiveness as a wildcat. Has played defensive back and used his athleticism there, but is further along on the offensive side of the ball. Little bit high in his backpedal and more technically sound on offense currently but could play either in college. Can continue getting stronger. Has excellent ball skills and is good in the open field. Maybe not a pure top-end speed guy but elusive and quick. Scout.com

QUOTABLE: "I couldn't see myself going anywhere else. I see myself as a corner; I think I can play corner at the next level and help make a difference. And that's what I want to do."

BOTTOM LINE: Yeast was one the staff wanted to hold onto and they did until the very end - holding off Notre Dame. He is an electric athlete and can come in and make a big different right away.
