Cardinals sophomore guard was the ACC Player of the Week

Louisville sophomore guard Donovan Mitchell has been of the more productive players in the nation during recent weeks

Louisville sophomore guard Donovan Mitchell has been on a blitz of late.  

His performance in the Cardinals last two outings, which saw him average 28.5 points, five rebounds and four assists, led to Mitchell being chosen as the  ACC Player of the Week.  He recorded a career-high 29 points in U of L's 55-point win at Pittsburgh and followed it up with a 28-point outing in a blowout home victory over NC State.  He connected on 60 percent of his attempts, including a blistering hot 67 percent (12-of-18) from beyond the three-point arc during his last two outings.

While the ACC honor was his first of the season, he play has been at a high level for weeks.  Over the last nine games, the Greenwich, Conn., product averaged 19.6 points 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals in Louisville's balanced lineup.  Proving he's much more than an offensive threat, Mitchell has ranked among the ACC and national leaders in steals with 45 thefts this season.

The 6th-ranked Cardinals (18-4, 6-3) return to action on Saturday afternoon at ACC  foe Boston College. Tip-off is set for 3:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network and can be see locally on WHAS.
