With nearly double-digit scholarship offers now in hand, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes defensive back Telly Plummer is enjoying a spike of interest. Last week Louisville became the first ACC program to extend an offer to the 6-foot, 185-pound prospect.
"I was very excited it was my first ACC offer and my first big offer," he told Cardinal Authority.
The Cardinals recently-hired defensive backs coach Lorenzo Ward serves as Plummer's primary recruiter.
"We have a good relationship and he came to my school and offered me," Plummer said. "He loves the way I can make big hits and make plays on the ball. I have good lateral speed and he said that if I came to his school I would play nickel back and corner."
Louisville's national exposure has resonated with the the Peach State product.
"I know the Heisman quarterback goes there, that they have really nice uniforms and they finish the season last year in the top 25."
In addition to U of L, Plummer also holds offers from Cincinnati, Colorado, Indiana, Purdue and most recently, Virginia Tech.
"I'm enjoying it now," he said of the recruiting process. "It's getting crazy right now but that's all apart of the process, so I'm fine with it."
Still very early in the process, Plummer, who remains "open to everyone," will make the trip north next month to get a better understanding of the Cardinals program.
"I will be going to Louisville March 14," he said.
