Louisville Trinity 2019 star Stephen Herron has made plenty of visits already to the University of Louisville.
But on Saturday, Herron went to the U of L-Miami basketball game for a "very good reason."
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Herron not only watched the game but at halftime spent about 30 minutes chatting with new defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, who was hired last month.
"I knew coach (Todd) Grantham very well and had a good relationship with him and have a good relationship with coach (L.D.) Scott," Herron said. "I would always talk to coach Grantham, every week.
"So it meant a lot to me to get to meet him. That was the initial reason for me to go to the game."
Herron said the first impression of the former Tennessee Titans linebacker, who was the Mississippi State defensive coordinator last season. was "a very good one."
"He's a great guy," Herron said. "He knows his Xs and Os and sounds like somebody you want on your side. He expressed that he likes to play guys early. He's had four freshman All-Americans during his career.
"He said he rotates a lot of guys and that meant a lot to me."
Herron now has 10 scholarship offers after landing one from Michigan on Monday. The list includes U of L, Oregon, Ohio State, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi State.
