It was tough sledding on the road for the University of Louisville.
The No. 8 Cardinals hit just 5 of 20 from three-point range and missed nine of 13 free throws on Wednesday night as they dropped a 74-63 victory over No. 8 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Cardinals had just one player in double figures and were outrebounded 46-33.
Louisville (22-6, 10-5 ACC) is now 1-5 in ACC games against top 25 teams.
MVP of the game
Has to be Donovan Mitchell even with his struggles in the first half.
Mitchell finished 8 of 15 from the field, including 3 of 9 from three-point range. He had 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 38 minutes of action during the contest.
Mitchell was just 2 of 7 from the field but hit three shots in a row to tie the game at 40.
*****The Cardinals were 0-for-3 from the free-throw line in the first half and 4 of 10 in the second half. Donovan Mitchell was 2-for-2 and was the only player who attempted a free throw that didn't miss for the Cardinals.
*****Deng Adel had eight points and six rebounds in the first half; he hit just 4 of 13 from the field and finished with the same totals - eight points and six rebounds for the contest.
*****Anas Mahmoud had eight points, five rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals in 25 minutes.

*****The 'four' position players for the Cardinals - Jaylen Johnson and Ray Spalding - combined for seven points, six rebounds and six turnovers.
*****Guard Tony Hicks did return to the lineup for the Cardinals. He has been out with a broken bone in his right hand and a day after Pitino said he was "close" to returning, Hicks played four minutes and had two points.
*****Quentin Snider had nine points but was just 3 of 9 and had three turnovers.
*****U of L had 16 turnovers and 10 assists on 27 made field goals.
*****Louisville outscored North Carolina 40-26 on points in the paint.
