Blairstown, N.J., defensive end Jayson Oweh picked up a Louisville offer this week

Blairstown, N.J. defensive end Jayson Oweh is drawing attention from ACC and Big 10 programs

Despite playing just one season of high school football, Blairstown, N.J. prospect Jayson Oweh is becoming a hot recruit for programs in the ACC, Big Ten and elsewhere.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound defensive end added Louisville to his growing list of scholarship offers earlier this week.

"It was overwhelming given that this was the first day I had made contact with Louisville," he said.  "The coach direct messaged me saying that I should call him and that he has great news for me. So when I called him he said that they really loved how athletic I was and how well I was doing things given that it was my first year."

Oweh, a standout basketball player at Blair Academy, hopes to visit Louisville in the coming months, but has nothing scheduled at this time.

"I know they were like number four in the country and that one of their players won the Heisman," he said of the Cardinals program.  "Louisville is big time."

In addition to U of L, the rising prospect, who hopes to study engineering, also holds scholarship offers from Rutgers, Temple, Central Florida and others.  North Carolina, Penn State and Pittsburgh are among the many others expressing an interest.

He claims no current favorites and is appreciative of the attention from the many college coaches.

"It's overwhelming, but a blessing from God," he said.

Playing in his first year, Oweh was selected Second Team Mid-Atlantic Prep League honors.
