Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek WR/CB Dimitri Stanley holds a Louisville scholarship offer

Louisville hopes to host Colorado athlete Dimitri Stanley on a visit soon.

Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek athlete Dimitri Stanley added a scholarship offer from Louisville recently and hopes to visit the Cardinals program soon.

"I was surprised honestly," he said of the offer.  "The coach had just started to talk to me and then maybe two days later they offered me, so I was surprised but also very excited."

The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect plays both wide receiver and cornerback, with most schools recruiting him as a receiver.

"I'm mostly being recruited as an athlete right now," he explained. "I believe that I can play either side of the ball at the next level."

As a junior, Stanley hauled in 65 receptions for 970 yards and 13 touchdowns, garnering All-County and All-State honors.  He's also a standout point guard at Cherry Creek, he's currently averaging 11 points per game for a team headed into the post-season.

He's had discussions with the Cardinals staff about his abilities, but hopes to get a better understanding on a future visit.  He's currently scheduled to visit for the program's Junior Day this weekend, but his basketball schedule may force a change in plans.

"They said that they enjoyed my film, but we are going to have to get more into that topic when I visit," he told Cardinal Authority.  "I do have a visit scheduled for the 4th of March but I'm not sure if it will workout because I am in playoffs for basketball and we might play on that day."

In addition to Louisville, Stanley also holds an offer from Colorado, where his father played, as well as Colorado State and Iowa State.
