Montvale (N.J.) St. Joesph Regional tight end Matt Alaimo is compiling an impressive list of scholarship offers with programs from the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and SEC all expressing their desire to land his eventual commitment.
Louisville joined the group last month and the possibility to play in the Bobby Petrino offense drew his excitement.
"I'm excited, coach Petrino is a great coach," he told Cardinal Authority.
A Scout.com three-star prospect, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Alaimo didn't hide the fact that Petrino's high use of the tight end in all phases of the game makes this offer a special one.
"My dads a football coach and that's the first thing he said about Louisville, they use their tight end's," he said. "Also playing for coach Petrino would be awesome."
His Scout evaluation describes a tight end that would matches the pass-friendly Petrino offense.
"He catches the ball away from his body and with his hands, and he turns up the field quickly. He is physical once he has the ball in his hands."
Alaimo explains that he's "working" on scheduling visits, but that he'll "visit every school" during the recruiting process.
In addition to the Cardinals, he also holds scholarship offers from Arkansas, Minnesota, NC State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, West Virginia and a host of others.
