Raleigh (N.C.) Sanderson running back Trent Pennix has added a Louisville to his now more than a dozen scholarship offerings and admits that it had an immediate impact.
"My reaction was amazed that one of the best football programs offered me," he said. "I was very excited to talk on the phone with coach Galloway and having him tell me that I have received an offer to come play for them."
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound rising three-star prospect explained that the U of L assistant told that the Cardinals staff "loved his film" and that the offer will result in a future visit.
"I'm really trying to talk to my parents into driving there because I would love to visit Louisville," he said.
In addition to Louisville, Pennix also holds offers from Boston College, Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and others. His prior visits include Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina and NC State. While excited for the opportunity, he's looking forward to learning more about each as he works to find the best situation for him.
"Anywhere that best fits me with their program is where I will go," he explained. "No matter where I go I will do what it takes to become better and help the team win games."
Still in the evaluation process, Pennix doesn't claim any early leaders, but anticipates trimming things down by the start of the season.
"I'll probably have my favorites by football season if any more offers come through," he said, adding that "Louisville is definitely one of my top schools I'm looking at right now."
As a junior Pennix rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns.
