The Cardinals extend scholarship offers to west coast prospects

Louisville football continues to recruit nationally

In an effort to land the nation's top players, the University of Louisville recently extended a handful of scholarship offers to a few rising stars on the west coast.

San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra defensive end Abdul-Malik McClain already had multiple offers from Pac-12 programs UCLA, Utah and Washington, but has recently attracted attention from the opposite side of the country with Louisville, Virginia and Notre Dame all doing the same.  Arizona and USC are also expressing strong interest in the rising three-star prospect.

Four-star offensive tackle Tommy Brown of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei also added a scholarship offer from the Cardinals this week.  At 6-foot-6, 320-pounds, Brown has the size that coaches covet and U of L wanted to quickly make sure their high interest was known.  Rated among the top 100 prospects nationally and the No. 1 offensive tackle in the Golden State, Brown holds offers from ACC, Big 10, Big 12, SEC and Pac-12 programs.

6-foot-6, 250-pound Tucson (Ariz) Salpointe Catholic offensive tackle Matteo Mele was also on Louisville's offer list this week.  While Mele has yet to receive his ranking from Scout.com, he's certainly to receive a handful of stars once it is handed out.  In addition to the Cardinals, Mele also holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, UCLA, Washington State and others.
