Jose Garcia, pronounced Joe-say, is an extremely talented and athletic swingman in the class of 2005.
Garcia, a charismatic and likable character who attended the adidas ABCD Camp in Teaneck, NJ in July, recently transferred to St. Anne's Belfield in Charlottesville, VA, where he'll benefit under the tutledge of Head Coach Brian Kent this season.
Garcia recently told Dave Telep of TheInsiders.com that if presented with the right college situation, he's ready to make his decision, possibly within the next month or two.
Kent confirmed Garcia's statements with Inside TheVille Friday afternoon.
"I know he doesn't want to feel much pressure his junior season," Kent said.
Kent, who praised Garcia's athletic and shooting abilities and strong leadership qualities, indicated that the talented junior prospect has, "High interest," in coach Pitino's Louisville program.
"He strokes it really well," Kent said. "And he's very confident in his game"
According to Kent, last week during open gym at St. Anne's, Garcia took a pass near the key, crossed over, and exploded for a dunk over three defenders in the lane, showcasing his immense athletic talents.
"He has a lot of drive," Kent said. "He has strong leadership qualities, motivates other people around him and we're glad to have to him at St. Anne's."
On Louisville's interest in Garcia, Kent said.
"They've shown strong interest and I think he's recently made contact with their coaching staff."
Kent said Garcia is looking for a school with the best academic programs and for a system that best suits his abilities.
"He likes to shoot the three, press and would fit well into a system like Louisville's," Kent said. "He's explosive and an intense defender."
So what would Garcia's response be should the U of L coaching staff extend an offer in the near future?
"He would be honored," Kent said.
