Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino confirms linebacker Trevon Young, who missed all of last season, will participate in spring ball

University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino confirms linebacker Trevon Young, who missed all of last season, will participate in spring ball. He was injured in the Music City Bowl two seasons ago.

Trevon Young is back and will participate in spring football for the University of Louisville.

U of L coach Bobby Petrino confirmed that Young, who was injured in the 2016 Music City Bowl and missed all of last season, will be on the field and participating in a limited capacity.

"Trevon will get some work," Petrino said. "It'll be nice to have him back out here."

Young was injured in the first quarter of the Music City Bowl when he suffered a dislocated and fractured hip. He was doing rehab and tried to make it back for last season, but Petrino announced just before the season that he was redshirting.

Young had surgery in Nashville and then went back there in late summer for a second surgery to repair the labrum in his hip. Petrino said during preparations for the bowl game last season that he was "hopeful" to get Young back for spring ball.

He was second on the team and seventh in the ACC in sacks with 8.5 during the 2015-16 season.
