Independence, Mo., defensive end Daniel Carson said his visit to Louisville was "a little better than I expected"

Independence, Mo., defensive end Daniel Carson said his visit to Louisville was "a little better than I expected."

Independence, Mo., William Christman 2018 defensive end Daniel Carson is on spring break and wanted to make sure he saw a couple of colleges while he had a chance.

So, Carson and his family spent two days at the University of Louisville. The Cardinals are one of 16 scholarship offers on the table, including Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State and others.

"It was a lot of fun," Carson said of the visit. "I got to talk to a lot of coaches. It was a good experience, seeing what Louisville is all about.

"It was a little bit better than I thought it was."

Carson said he had a "great" time on Monday, chatting with head coach Bobby Petrino and meeting Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.

"Yeah, today was a good day," Carson said.

During his chat with Petrino and also with defensive line coach L.D. Scott, Carson said the U of L staff made it clear that the Cardinals would be targeting a lot of defensive end/defensive line prospects in the '18 class.

"Seeing the coaches was good and seeing what they are doing to the place is great," he said. "I just want to get a feel for every school and see what they have to offer. They told me how I fit in the scheme and how I would be making plays at the next level.

"They also told me I have a chance to play early. They went over their depth with me and talk about how I could have an impact early."

As a junior, Carson has 56 tackles and 12 sacks.
