With nine scholarships already in hand, Tupelo, Miss., linebacker Jett Johnson is starting to make a few visits.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound three-star checked out Mississippi and Mississippi State last month and over the weekend he made the trip to the University of Louisville, the first school to offer him.
Johnson was at U of L on Saturday and watched the Cardinals scrimmage.
"I really enjoyed it," Johnson said. "Very nice things. It's probably the nicest stadium that I have been in."
Johnson also has offers from South Alabama, Middle Tennessee, Troy, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tulane and Toledo. He's hearing from a few other schools and said Louisville will always be high on his list because they were the first to offer.
New U of L defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon is recruiting Johnson and met with him on the visit.
"I got to sit in on a linebacker meeting and talk with coach Sirmon," he said. "I really enjoyed it. I'll probably be back this summer."
As a sophomore, Johnson averaged 12.9 tackles a game and finished with 155 - including 87 solos. Johnson had a remarkable junior season also with 119 tackles, including 84 solo, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
Johnson also plays basketball for Tupelo.
