Former University of Louisville linebacker Abe Brown was murdered on Thursday night in Louisville; Brown was on the 2007 Orange Bowl team.

Former University of Louisville linebacker Abe Brown was the victim of a homicide on Thursday night in the city of Louisville.

Brown was one of four people murdered in a five-hour span on Thursday.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Abe Brown and his family," U of L coach Bobby Petrino said. "It's sad to lose a member of our family."

The 6-foot-4 Brown was originally from Sarasota, Fla., and played high school ball at Booker High. He was an outside linebacker for the Cardinals and played from 2003-06.

Brown's final collegiate game for U of L was the 2007 Orange Bowl win over Wake Forest.

As a senior, Brown had 39 tackles, eight tackles for a loss and a fumble recover for the Cardinals.
