Former University of Louisville linebacker Abe Brown was the victim of a homicide on Thursday night in the city of Louisville.
Brown was one of four people murdered in a five-hour span on Thursday.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Abe Brown and his family," U of L coach Bobby Petrino said. "It's sad to lose a member of our family."
The 6-foot-4 Brown was originally from Sarasota, Fla., and played high school ball at Booker High. He was an outside linebacker for the Cardinals and played from 2003-06.
Brown's final collegiate game for U of L was the 2007 Orange Bowl win over Wake Forest.
As a senior, Brown had 39 tackles, eight tackles for a loss and a fumble recover for the Cardinals.
Rest In Peace, Abe!
