Cardinals scored three times in top of ninth to defeat Georgia Tech 5-4 on Saturday

No. 2 Louisville sweeps Georgia Tech

After grabbing an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by Drew Ellis in the second inning, No. 2 Louisville needed a late rally to grab a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over host Georgia Tech.

The Cardinals were outhit 11-3 in Saturday's series finale, but effectively took advantage of a shaky bullpen in the ninth to plate three and claim the series sweep over the Yellow Jackets.

Junior Brendan McKay led off the top of the ninth with a solo home run, his seventh of the season, to pull the Cardinals within 4-3 of the hosts.  Drew Ellis drew a walk, Colin Lyman was hit-by-pitch and Devin Mann reached on a fielders choice on a sacrifice bunt.

Ryan Summers reached base on a fielders choice and drove in pinch-running Tyler Fitzpatrick to even the score.  Josh Stowers connected for a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to plate Lyman and push the Cardinals ahead.

Adam Wolf picked up the victory after throwing 1.2 innings of relief.

It's the third conference series sweep of the season for Louisville, which improves to 31-4 overall and 15-3 in ACC play.

The Cardinals will next travel to Lexington to face rival Kentucky on Tuesday night at 6pm.  U of L defeated UK 5-3 at home on Apr. 4 and has won six straight over their rival.
