It wasn't the video-game like numbers he put up in last year's spring football game, but University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was still the star of the show on Saturday.
Before a crowd of 14,000 fans at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, Jackson accounted for five touchdowns in leading the Red team to a 52-7 win over the White team in the '17 Spring Game.
"I don't even remember what happened last year," Jackson said with a smile. "I'm just trying to get better and improve. I am trying to keep last year, last year and just focus on this year and getting better.
"We got out there in front of the fans and showed them a good time and I felt good all day long."
Jackson completed 19 of 32 passes for 346 yards and three TDs, while rushing four times for 38 yards and one more score. U of L coach Bobby Petrino said he was "very excited" about the improvement he's shown.
In the spring game a year ago where the team played 1s vs. 2s, Jackson threw for 519 yards and eight touchdowns in a blowout win.
But even with the solid numbers, Jackson said he's not satisfied.
"He felt like I hold the ball too long sometimes and timing with the routes," Jackson said. "It was a lot of that throughout the game. I just need to keep working to get better."
