Richmond, Va., defensive end Chris Collins spent two days visiting the Cardinals program

Defensive end Chris Collins was impressed by his Louisville experience

In possession of more than a dozen scholarship offers, most of those from ACC programs, and with more still to come, Richmond (Va.) Benedictine defensive end Chris Collins has a difficult college choice ahead of him.  However, if his visit to Louisville over this weekend for the Cardinals spring game is any indicator, his eventual pick may not be as difficult as originally thought.

"The Louisville visit went great," he told Cardinal Authority on Saturday evening.  "I was able to come down Friday so I got a chance to see all the facilities and spend some time with the coaches."

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Collins spent time with defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon following the Red-White spring game to learn more about what opportunity exists for him in the Derby City.

"After the spring game I had a meeting with the defensive coordinator and he just told me how they were going to be thin on the d line and I had a chance to compete to play right away."

In addition to Louisville, Collins also holds offers from Duke, Georgia, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.  When Collins added the Cardinals offer last month he claimed no favorites, but that appears to have changed a bit after his visit.

The three-star prospect admits that Louisville is "definitely up there at the top, I really enjoyed being at Louisville."

Trips to North Carolina, Boston College and Virginia fill his schedule next week.  He has no current time frame for his college decision.

"I'm not sure what month (I'll decide) but before my senior season starts," he said.

Collins is rated as the top defensive end in Virginia and No. 10 in the East Region.
