Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four-star defensive end Nik Bonitto said Louisville is 'high up there' after a visit to the Cardinals' spring game

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., four-star defensive end Nik Bonitto said Louisville is 'high up there' on his list of schools after a visit to the Cardinals' spring game.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas four-star linebacker Nicholas Bonitto said he has had a few schools showing him the most interest in the recruiting process in recent weeks.

And on Saturday, Bonitto visited one of those schools - the University of Louisville.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Bonitto, who is the No. 14 defensive end in the country and the No. 143 prospect overall, have rave reviews of the visit to Louisville. He spent time with several other prospects from South Florida on the sidelines and in the stands watching the Spring Game.

"I loved it at the Louisville spring game," Bonitto said. "The environment was crazy. I really liked it there."

Bonitto said he also had a chance to speak with U of L defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, linebackers coach Cort Dennison and defensive quality control coach Mike Bruno.

He said as of now he doesn't have a true list of schools, ranking them in order.

"But if I did, I would say Louisville is high up there," he said.

U of L, LSU, Florida State, Michigan State, Kentucky and Michigan are the schools showing Bonitto the most interest. He has more than two dozen scholarship offers from schools.

Bonitto is a two-sport star at St. Thomas and is a standout on the basketball court. He said recently that the U of L coaches have talked about the potential of playing both sports for the Cardinals.
