Humble (Tex.) Atascocita athlete Alex Morris is seeing his recruitment start to pick up steam as Louisville became the first P5 conference program to extend a scholarship offer.
A 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety/wide receiver, Morris received the offer from Louisville defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon on April 8.
"I'm really excited about the offer from Louisville and it means a lot to me that they were the first to offer me," he said. "It truly shows that have interest in me and what I have to bring to the table."
The two-way standout totaled 13 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns on offense, while also proving to be a valuable member of the team's secondary.
In addition to Louisville, he also picked up an offer from Indiana, while Arkansas State, Houston and Memphis are among those expressing an interest. With interest rising, Morris does admit that the early offer is notable.
"Louisville, that's a big offer for me," he said.
Distance from his home in the Lone Star State is also not an issue and he hopes to set up a visit with the Cardinals program soon.
"It's just a flight away," he said. "My parents and I plan to visit Louisville. I can't say when but I hope it will be soon. I would like to learn about the education system, big traditions, schedules and personal opinions towards the campus."
