The University of Louisville football staff continues to work the state of Florida in recruiting.
The Cardinals landed another commitment from the Sunshine State on Thursday night, picking up a verbal pledge from Pompano Beach, Fla., Blance Ely speedy wide receiver Akeem Hayes.
"Louisville's whole coaching staff came in immediately and starting showing love," he told Cardinal Authority.
The 5-foot-10, 155-pound Hayes is a three-star prospect also had offers from North Carolina State, Oregon and Oregon State among others.
A speedy receiver, Hayes describes his play as "dynamic" and that when he gets the ball the opposing defensive back is thinking, "how am I going to catch him."
U of L head coach Bobby Petrino has already indicated that he's looking forward to getting Hayes in his high-powered offense.
"When I was on the phone with coach Petrino he told that he's already thinking of ways to use me in his offense," he said.
Hayes was an 8A-6A second team All-Broward County during his junior season. He has competed with the 7 on 7 team the Florida Fire. As a junior he hauled in 32 receptions for 758 yards and seven touchdowns.
Hayes is rated a three-star prospect and the No. 143 wide receiver in the nation by Scout.com.
He's the fifth commitment in the Class of 2018 and all five are from the state of Florida.
