Colin Lyman was perfect at the plate and drove in a career-high five runs, while Brendan McKay hit a pair of home runs and Devin Mann drove in three with two doubles to lead No. 2 Louisville to a 17-2 win over Toledo at Patterson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Led by Lyman's 4-for-4 afternoon at the plate, the Cardinals pounded out 13 hits, including nine for extra bases. Lyman had a double and a triple, plus was hit by a pitch twice, and scored twice to highlight his outing.
"(The focus today was) keeping it simple at the plate today, just seeing the ball and hitting the ball in the zone somewhere," he said. "Luckily it paid off for me today and I was able to help the team a lot."
For McKay, his two home run outing capped a week that saw him hit six round-trippers and drive in 12 runs in five games at the plate, while also striking out 12 to pick up his sixth win of the season. The Cardinals All-American is now even with Drew Ellis for team-high with 13 home runs on the season and is hitting .394 with 42 RBI.
The Cardinals scored in every inning but the first and eighth, plating multiple runs in five of those. A six run fifth inning, which included a two-run home run by McKay put the game out of reach for the visiting Rockets.
Louisville outscored the Rockets 33-8 over the weekend's three-game series, sweeping the series to improve to 38-6 overall. It marks the sixth series sweep of the season for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals will close out the homestand on Tuesday against Miami of Ohio before traveling to South Bend, Ind., for a key three-game series at Notre Dame.
