Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood athlete Kendall Williamson has had the attention of the Louisville coaching staff for a lengthy period of time and that relationship resulting in a scholarship offer from the Cardinals program last weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect stars on both sides of the ball, but projects by most as a defensive back once he reaches the college level. In addition to Louisville, Williamson also holds offers from Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, NC State, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and others. Duke, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee are also expressing an interest.
"Louisville is a big time football program," he said. "I think they won like 9 or 10 games last year. That quarterback is pretty special. It is a big time offer. "
U of L secondary coach Lorenzo Ward has served as the primary contact for Williamson.
"I have communicated with coach Ward," Williamson said. "My dad knows some more about him. He has helped some guys get to the NFL. I am pretty excited about the offer. Coach Petrino wins a lot games."
An All-Region choice as a junior and a Scout.com three-star prospect, Williamson anticipates visiting Louisville upon the completion of the school year.
"No specific date yet," he said. "We will plan a visit for this summer. I know my dad wants to take a visit. I have spring ball starting on Wednesday. Then when spring ball is over we only have a short time till school is over."
