Fort Lauderdale, Fla., University School five-star 2019 power forward Vernon Carey has been a star on the Nike EYBL circuit during the two spring evaluation periods for college prospects.
The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Carey has played in front of all the top coaches in the country, including a couple of games last weekend in Indianapolis in front of Louisville coach Rick Pitino.
The U of L staff has already offered Carey, who said the Cardinals are among his leaders.
Carey told Scout.com that Miami, U of L and Florida "are the three recruiting me the hardest."
He said U of L "gets their bigs involved a lot, so that’s why I like them.”
Carey is currently ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the Class of 2019 and the No. 1 power forward. His father, Vernon Sr., played on the offensive line at Miami and spent eight years in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
