Louisville is in the mix for 4-star 2019 wing Josh Nickleberry, who is headed to Oak Hill Academy

The University of Louisville basketball staff has narrowed the focus on some of the top targets in the Class of 2019.

One of the top targets appears to be four-star wing Josh Nickelberry, who is transferring from Fayetteville, N.C., Trinity Christian to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., next season.

The Cardinals have been in contact a lot with Nickelberry in recent weeks and had multiple assistant coaches and head coach Rick Pitino watch him play with his Game Elite AAU team in April.

"I'm highly interested (in Louisville)," he said. "Coach Pitino is a great coach and he gets his players ready for the next level. Louisville is an elite program and I'm looking forward to building a good relationship with the coaches.

"They're one of the best and I've talked with several of their coaches."

In two events in April, Nickelberry averaged 16.6 points a game. He was the fourth-leading scorer on the adidas Gauntlet circuit in the first event that was played in Dallas.

The 6-foot-3 Nickelberry said he currently has 19 scholarship offers.

"I'm still working on a lot, like ballhandling and shot selection," he said. "I like for people to see that I can do it all."

Nickelberry, whose father was an All-American linebacker at Northern Illinois in the early 1990s, is ranked as the No. 52 player in the Class of 2019 by Scout.com.
