The few members of the Louisville coaching staff have spent time in the Peach State in recent days to visit schools and watch players participate in spring practice workouts. Among the many athletes that they evaluated to warranted a scholarship offer was Norcross, Ga., prospect Trey Morrison of Greater Atlanta Christian School.
"I was so excited," the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Morrison told Cardinal Authority. "Coach Ward came to the school and just offered."
Louisville is now among more than two dozen programs to offer Morrison. Boston College, Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia are among the sizeable group seeking to land his commitment.
"Coach Ward and I have communicated before," he continued. "I don't know much (about Louisville) yet, but I want to know more."
In addition to his impressive cover skills and elusiveness when returning kicks, Morrison claims that the U of L staff also likes his toughness. During his discussions with Lorenzo Ward, Morrison explained that the U of L assistant said that he liked how he was "scrappy and playing with a chip on my shoulder."
He has yet to schedule a visit with Louisville, but claims that "I will."
As a junior, Morrison recorded 47 tackles, including 41 solo stops, and four interceptions. He also blocked a punt and had over 300 kick return yards.
