Jose Garcia favors Cards
This past Monday, Inside TheVille reported that 6'4 Jose Garcia of St. Anne's Belfield in Charlottesville, VA, was receiving high interest from the University of Louisville coaching staff after speaking with St. Anne's Head Coach Brian Kent.
Kent told us late last week that UofL had shown considerable interest in the talented junior swingman and confirmed earlier statements made by Garcia to TheInsiders.com's Dave Telep that he's looking to make a commitment before the start of his junior season.
Thursday evening, Garcia spoke with Inside TheVille and provided some encouraging and exciting news for the Cardinal nation.
When asked if Coach Pitino and the Cards lead for his services, Garcia's response was affirmative.
"Yes, I'd say so," Garcia told ITV. "I'm real, real high on Louisville."
Garcia, rated among the top 40 prospects nationally in the junior class, recently transferred from Holy Cross to St. Anne's and said he's making the transition just fine.
"It's going great," Garcia said. "It's a great boarding school and I'm very comfortable here. Coach Kent is a good coach and I'm going to learn a lot."
Garcia said the UofL coaching staff watched him intently at the adidas ABCD camp in July, and the native Angolan has recently been watching Louisville game tapes through the use of the tube and VCR. Garcia mentioned that while watching, he became excited to see another Garcia, UofL's Francisco, lighting it up for the Cards.
Garcia indicated that the Louisville coaching staff has been in contact with Coach Kent recently and have indicated they'de be making the trip in the near future to watch Garcia in action.
Garcia indicated that he'd like to unofficially visit the UofL campus in the near future and reiterated his hopes for making his college decision prior to the start of the high school basketball season in late November.
"I would love to see the campus," Garcia said of a possible upcoming visit to Louisville. "And I would like to do it before the season starts."
Would Garcia commit to the Cards if he took a visit to the Louisville campus this fall and felt comfortable with his surroundings?
"I would love for them to offer," Garcia said. "If I visit the campus and like everything, hopefully we could make the deal."
Sounds promising for the Cards.....stay tuned!
