The University of Louisville football staffs run in recruiting continues.
The Cardinals have landed a fifth commitment in the last three days with a pledge from three-star Murfreesboro, Tenn., Riverdale athlete Jarek Campbell, who had four other major offers.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Campbell also had offers from Tennessee, Kentucky, Memphis and Cincinnati.
Campbell had been recruited by U of L defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon and is the first commitment that Sirmon has landed on the recruiting trail from the Nashville-area. He played for the Tennessee Titans and his family still lives in the area.
Campbell ranks by Scout as the No. 67 safety in the 2018 class and as a three-star prospect. A broken toe on his right foot sidelined him for a majority of Summer 2016, preventing him from taking part in camps, combines and 7-on-7 tournaments.
In 2016, the two-way athlete logged more time on offense than defense as a junior. He's expected to play defense in college.
Campbell is the 11th commitment in the '18 class and the first from the state of Tennessee. The Cardinals landed Rodney Owens and Nick Okeke from the area in the '17 class.
