Saline, Mich., High School 2019 defensive back M.J. Griffin already had a good relationship with the University of Louisville football coaches and a connection to the Cardinals' program.
But last week after he camped at U of L, Griffin had something else - an offer.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Griffin performed well enough at camp to have the staff inform him a couple days later that a scholarship offer was on the board. He now has 13 total offers.
"I think I performed great," Griffin said. "Especially with all the agility drills, defensive back drills, 7-on-7, and 1-on-1s. I only gave up one catch in the one-on-ones and I had a pick in the seven-on-sevens. I talked to the safety coach (Ryan Beard) and we talked about the coverages they run.
"They really like me and how I play. Overall, it was a great camp."
Griffin has several connections to U of L. He said his cousin is former U of L wide receiver Aaron Bailey.
Another cousin, Jaylen Johnson, was a member of the U of L basketball team last year and he plays for the same 7-on-7 team that produced current U of L football freshman wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick.
