Brian Johnson sets official visit to U of L

ITV RECRUITING EXCLUSIVE -- Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino met with 6'9 Brian Johnson of Oak Hill Academy last Wednesday and the talented forward has scheduled an official visit to the UofL campus. Oak Hill Head Coach Steve Smith spoke with ITV Wednesday morning about Johnson's visit with Pitino last week and his upcoming official campus visits.

Johnson to officially visit UofL next weekend

6'9 Brian Johnson from Oak Hill Academy kept busy last week, hosting several of the nation's top collegiate coaches.

Stopping by to visit with Johnson last week were Mike Brey from Notre Dame, Lute Olson from Arizona, Paul Hewitt from Georgia Tech and Bob Huggins from Cincinnate.

University of Louisville Head Coach made the trip to see Johnson last Wednesday and according to Oak Hill Academy Head Coach Steve Smith, the visit went well. Johnson will make an official visit to UofL next weekend (9/27).

This weekend, Johnson will officially visit Notre Dame. Following his trip to Louisville next week, Johnson visits Cincinnati (10/4), Georgia Tech (10/11) and will visit Arizona on October 17 for the Wildcats Midnight Madness.

"He wants to take visits and talk with the players," Smith said. "He wants to play right away in a program that can help him get to the next level."

Smith said the opportunity to play early and style of play will likely be the two most important factors in Johnson's decision.

"He's an intelligent kid and he'll ask quite a few questions of the players and coaches on his visits," Smith said.

Smith indicated that Johnson is a competitor and wants to win at the collegiate level and a Sebastian Telfair commitment to Louisville would only increase the Cards chances to land the talented 6'9 forward.

"It probably wouldn't hurt," Smith said of Telfair's impact on Johnson's decision. "He wants to play for a coach he respects and can win big at the next level."
