Trinity quarterback Brian Brohm was excellent all night, but the story of the game was the Shamrock defense.

Holding the Tigers star running back K.J. Austin Bruce in check the entire game, St. X struggled offensively and was forced to play catch up all night.

The night for Trinity and Brohm started out shaky, however. On its first possession, Brohm was intercepted by the Tiger secondary giving St. X an early advantage.

The Tigers couldn't capitalize on Brohm's mistake though and in a low scoring first half marked by solid defense from both teams, Trinity, led by it's All-American quarterback took a 7-0 lead with 1:34 remaining in the first quarter when Brohm connected with Bill Murray for a 25 yard touchdown strike for the first half's only points.

The Rocks extended their lead to 10-0 with a short field goal after stalling near the goal line in the third quarter.

St. X answered the Rocks third quarter score with a three yard touchdown run by K.J. Austin Bruce. The Tigers missed the extra point and the Trinity advantage was 10-6 heading into the decisive final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Brohm marched the Rocks downfield and completed a pass to the St. X two yard line only to receive an unsportsmanlike penalty that pushed the ball back 15 yards.

Ever the clutch player, Brohm connected with his receiver for a 17 yard touchdown strike on third and goal with 9:04 remaining in the game to put Trinity ahead 17-6 for the game's final margin.
