News & Notes

Tydlacka Returns

Wade Tydlacka (ITV)
Senior Wade Tydlacka has returned to full practice for the first time since suffering a torn cartlidge during warmups prior to the season opener against Kentucky. Tydlacka, who handled both the punting and kickoff duties prior to his injury, kicked the ball well this afternoon and showed no signs of his injury.

A light practice?
Due to the double-overtime contest this past Saturday and the team's late arriving flight early Sunday morning, the Cardinals dressed in shorts for practice on Tuesday afternoon. While on the surface it appeared that the practice may be lighter than normal, it didn't appear as such during the first 30 minutes. However, after the team ran sprints for a few minutes, Coach Bobby Petrino did end practice a few minutes earlier than usual.

True freshman see's more action
Defensive back William Gay, who saw his first action against of his career against UTEP, is seeing his game time increase with each passing contest. Against South Florida Gay participated in 45 snaps and could spilt the time with Gavin Smart for the remainder of the season. Through three games, the talented freshman has now recorded 2 tackles for a loss, including one sack, has three pass breakups and one interception.

Scheduling Update

As discussed on Monday's radio program, the Cardinals are now scheduled to play Miami and North Carolina next fall, with both contests being on the road. The Miami Hurricanes will make a return visit to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for the 2006 season, while the Tarheels will visit Louisville in 2005.
