Groundbreaking for Natatorium Today

Ground was broken at a 3:00 ceremony on the University of Louisville campus for the Ralph Wright Natatorium that will house the Cardinal swimming and diving teams.

University of Louisville officials and students made the first big splash during a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ralph Wright Natatorium Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m.

The event was held in the gravel lot on the northwest corner of Floyd and Warnock streets on Belknap Campus.

Named for the man who established the U of L swimming program, the 41,000-square-foot natatorium will serve as home to the Cardinal swim teams. The $10.5 million facility also will be open to all U of L students.

The Ralph Wright Natatorium is expected to open in Spring 2005.
